Title says it all. After having a remote start installed the keypad no longer works. I took it back to the installer and they said they can not fix the keypad as it is a security issue. Anyway around this? I want my keypad to work!
No they did not tell me. They did not know it won't work until I tried it and it wasn't working. They said they would remove the remote start and that "should" fix the problem. They said it had something to do with the OEM security system.
with a little research they should be able to overcome this obstacle. Have them call the remote staff and inquire, They had to put a programmed key in the box under the dash to get mine to recognize the system.
You must have one of those stick on key pads. Is yours kinda big and not so much flush mounted to the door? If so then it simply uses RF like the remotes do to unlock the doors when you enter the key combo. When you got your remote start installed the frequency was changed to the new remotes and therefore your keypad doesn't work anymore.
If none of the above is true and you have a old style flush mount keypad then I have no idea...
You will have to re-program your remotes again. When they set up the remote start, alot of times they do the programming again. So go thru the normal steps in programming stock remotes and key pad. NOTE: You can only have 4 devices programmed on one truck, and must do them all at the same time.
