05 f250 psd will not start

Today My psd didn't want to start, tried several times and it would crank and yet not start even with plenty fuel in the tank. I had to get a ride from the job site and later I tried one more time and it started so I drove it back home. I heard of a sensor on early psd that would make it not start but this is a 05 with only 50k miles on it, what could cause this?

Thank You.

You might want to check out the "Trouble Shooting a No Start Condition"
in the 6.0 forum Tech Folder.

That would be the CPS, but it was on the 7.3L Power Stroke.

I had the same thing happen recently. It turned out to be a failed IPR. Also had to change the plug to the IPR.

What's an IPR?

I tried it again and it will start every time (yes there is fuel in the tank ) so I think it could be the shifter wasn't sitting all the way i park. I also found the vacuum pump would not quit running and one the connections near the oil fill cap was disconnected but this shouldn't keep it from running right?

Thank You.

as it turns out it was the shifter or the cable, can I adjust this or should I just replace it?

Thank You.
