Do I really need the panhard rod ? My truck already has a 4" lift, Sky Mfg. supplied me with a bracket to compensate for the added lift of the reverse shackle kit. It looks identical to the bracket that came w/ my 4" lift.
I can't help but think of my fleet of lifted '79's w/o a panhard rod, and if I really even need it ? The reverse shackle kit will really stabilize the front leafs, making them just like my 79's (shackle were it belongs). Isn't the real function of the p/h rod to stabilze the front leafs using the F-250 TTB shackle system ? Plus it will look terrible, bracket bolted to a bracket !!!
it becouse the 79 drag linck gos front to back and the 80s and 90s gose side to side the stering trys to pull the front end side to side i would keep it ore it will be all over the road
The only reason the factory trucks have a track bar (or panhard) is to eliminate bump steer because of the cross-over steering setup.
If you can live with a little bit of bump steer, then you certainly don't have to have a track bar. Unless you're going to go to the lengths of making the track bar perfectly parallel to the drag link, then there's really no point of having it anyway.
A little bump steer aint no big thing. It's a 1ton truck with lots of lift, the body will sit on top of the 37's when the shackle kit is installed. I don't expect it to ride like an Accord.
