I recently won a $500 gift card from 4 Wheel Parts and have been thinking about what to spend the money on before it expires in three months. My thoughts are on either a new intake system or a cat back exhaust in search of increased performance and hopefully increased mileage. What do you guys suggest as a first mod for my otherwise stock 2004 6.0? I'll eventually do both and will probably end the mods there without chipping it as I hear way to many horror stories on higher horsepower mods. I'm also in CA and with upcoming smog tests being required I want to keep it legal too. Driving wise it's my daily driver but I also tow my 16000 pound fifth wheel regularly too. Suggestions?
Air compressor, tank, and train horns. You won't gain much if any mpgs with just exhaust and you'll only hurt your truck with a CAI. Custom tuning and exhaust will get ya a few more mpgs but not much. Right foot control is the best solution.

I have considered this set up as well. I might even a gain some MPG if I use it accordingly to keep people out of my way so I don't have to constantly lift my right foot, apply brakes and then stomp the right foot.

There's many of times I wish I had some in situations like those. That's what I'd get with the gift card but to each his own. Exhaust is nice too and sounds great. Nothing like the whistle of the turbo but it just doesn't help mpg. Good luck on ur choice and let us know what you go with.
