D@mn you "Wallmart"!!! Boycott!!! Well, they have it here in L.B., but freight makes it a geographically undesirable option! I think W/M will "price match"! Find an advertised M-1 deal somewhere in the continental U.S. & make em "Put up"! OR THERE WILL BE A BOYCOTT! (We'll just figure a way to tie it into an "Anti-Illegal Immigration demonstration". Not that big a stretch is it?

I already tried to make them price match... The will price match what they carry in store only and they only carry 1qt containers (they quit stocking the 5qt jugs)... and the best price I can find is $6/qt so I'm still paying $30 for what used to be $22... I just want to find a place that carries the 5qt containers of the m1 15k oil for $25 or less... A hard feat to come by...
I do not buy the claims that you can go 10k miles on synthetic. I know some people do stuff like that. However, no matter what oil is used, dirt and moisture etc will still find its way into the crank case.
This is no scientific study, but these guys had oil analysis performed every 1000 miles and made it 18,000 miles with the standard Mobil 1 several years ago: Synthetic Oil Life Study

I thought they might in the Delvac line, but it looks like 5W40 is the only option there too.

Ill take it over a company payrolled study. It may leave a little to be desired, But I doubt I would/could have done better! It was all on their dime too! They seem to really let the chips fall where they may! Would have liked to see R/P w/ a dog in the fight. Good link!
Anybody could do the same for himself. I have UOAs confirming my 10k oil and filter changes on the Taurus I use to commute aren't causing any unusual wear. That's with Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 oil and Purolator PureOne filter. I could probably run it to 15k but 10k is easier to keep track of. At 50k per year it's a big savings in time and about even money vs. the recommended 5k interval.

Jeeze!!! 50,000 miles a year! you must have all your time on the road!
Anyway Your right about the time savings! I have installed a Dorman EZ drain oil plug in all my vehicles. Makes for a tool-less oil change as long as your filter isn't on so tight you have to use a filter wrench on it. I can do my fiance's car and mine at the same time in 20mins (including topping off all fluids) And I don't need ramps or jacks thanks to the Dorman and position of the oil filter.
