Went camping this weekend and all I can say is wow. Compared to my last truck (2006-6.0-SRW), this truck did great. Don't get me wrong, I have liked all my trucks, but I was amazed at the extra power provided to get up to speed when getting on the highway and the extra stability provided by the DRW was really noticeable as well. The last few SRW trucks I pulled with forced me to have to really "drive" the truck while pulling. With this one, I actually had to remind myself a couple of times that I had 36 feet and 14K lbs behind me. The only negative was getting about 8.5 miles/gal, but pulling the trailer is what I bought this truck for and I will just put up with that. If it was a daily driver, it would be different.
Hey Glen, have you noticed how much fun these trucks are to drive around corners without your trailer behind you? DWR really makes a difference. One problem I have had is pulling in snow. If you have the stock tires they don't like snow and ice very much especially with the trailer behind you.
Hello whporwil, have not really noticed too much difference in the cornering (I will pay better attention next time). Funny you should mention the snow thing. I was talking with a guy this weekend and I told him that I did not think this truck would do as well in snow as the SRW trucks I had did. I think these tires will tend to ride much more on top of the snow.
first pull was not much of a test for the truck. It did smooth out the ride - maybe I should carry around 3000lbs all the time????
150 miles at highway speed approx 60 mph ave 13 +/- mpg not too bad
I sure love the way my truck tows..A HUGE improvement over my old F-250 7.3 liter, way more power and the dually seems so much more stable..I used to tow a 10k twin axle trailer now tow a triple with the dually, more rubber on the road is so much nicer... The mileage I won't talk about, but love the truck...Just recently towed from Arizona to Wisconsin, almost 1900 miles.. I'll never buy anything but a dually ever again...
