Broken Leaf Spring...

Finally got a break from planting and other activities this weekend and decided to do a little fishing. I was going up a pretty big hill with some monsterous ruts/holes in it when I heard a pretty good metal and metal sound. I just figured it was the suspension doing it's job since the road was extremely rough. I took my foot off the pedal and idle up the rest of the hill in 2nd.

On the return trip down the hill it continued to clank until i heard something metal hit the ground. Long story short, it only rubbed the tire a little bit but doesn't look like it did any real damage.

So, anyone have any good sources for aftermarket rear leaf springs? I'd like to get something a little better than stock.

X2 on the SD springs. they are a direct replacement. if you iuse the SD shackles you will need to do a little grinding and the bolts thru the frame are a tad bigger.
Excellent mod!

From what i hear they help the ride. something about different spring rates and all that junk that i know nothing about. LoL

I'd go with the SD springs for sure if they are direct replacements.

Anyone know if the sd springs are as "strong" as an obs rear spring? I know my obs holds a big trailer lots better than dads sd does. His wants to squat a lot more than mine. Just a thought I had. I understand they may ride better but do you sacrifice some towing capacity with them?

Slight hijack here too. Sorry

I'm guessing you do probably give up a little with the SD springs because in order to have a better ride you can't be as doggone stiff. Just my thinking there, dont actually knwo.

That was kind of my thought too James. Don't actually know for sure either. Mine is a truck and used as one. I'd much rather ride rougher and be able to haul a load better than ride nice and not haul a load as good. Some don't use their truck for towing as much though so I can see the swap for them ( that is if what we are saying is true).
