truck idle problems
Hey guys I need help I have a 1982 ford econoline 3 100 it has the 300 I 6 the truck sat for like five years. I rebuilt the carb replaced the intake gasket rear main seal and fuel pump. The truck will only run if I hold the accelirator. I'm lost HELP

You might be better posting this on the page for earlier trucks. However make sure the ignition timing is correct, make sure that there are no vacuum leaks, check that the choke plate is working properly and check that the fuel level in the float chamber is correct.

There are lots of vacuum lines running around under the hood, and behind the passenger fender and even on the people side of the firewall behind the computer. In an old truck, i'd look carefully at the vacuum reservoir and the surrounding line. I believe on most, it's located in the passenger side inner wheel well.
