INTAKE COOLANT PLATE

So I've seen the cool little plates your making to go below the intake for coolant flow purposes but I'm a newb on here and have no idea why...Is it a warming up thing in the winter or a cooling down thing in the summer? It gets pretty hot and muggy in OK and just not sure about puttin that extra heat in my intake but SO many of you guys have maybe its worth it.

The plate is to heat the intake for better cold weather driveability. If you still have the stock exhaust manifold that bolts to the bottom of the intake, you're good already. The coolant plate is used when the stock exhaust manifold is removed to allow EFI manifolds or headers to be installed. These don't bolt onto the bottom of the intake, therefore it needs heat from another source.

late 60's ford v8's will match up for after market intakes... '68 seems to be a matchstick fit for the offy intake... just need to mod it a bit....

all carbs need heat at some time IMO and a plate will work a charm if not hooked up to the exhaust for that heat....

IMO even in summer it is ok to have heat to the carb as that is how most 300's are set up from stock

Yeah, I blocked the coolant passages in the intake of my RX7. Makes better power in the summer, but suffers from carb icing when the temp is ~40*F or cooler, until the radiator and header can supply enough heat to prevent the icing condition. The header is less than 3" below the intake, and it can reach over 1600*F under normal driving, and well over 2000*F when driven hard.
