PCV System Build
most of the time i always see every one that just sticks a cool looking filter inplace of the pcv valve. even tho its a dumb move and they wonder why the motor starts to leak oil after awhile.even tho i usally hook a tube up and dump it down under the vehical like they did in the old days before PCV was invented. but i like to be eco friendly and would much rather have the case vented for the better. now on my 300 i have the front valve with a singel outlet that hooks to the rear one that has two outlets. the second one just vents to atmosphere. now i bought this oil catch can off ebay. installed it on the fender and hooked everything up. now the motor wont idle cuz its like a giant vaccum leak. i probably should have a breather filter up front and the valve in the rear that goes thru the canister and into the pcv port on the carb. im still messing with the setup so the motor will run right. or maybe should take the exhaust scavaging route.
i will post pics and info on pcv systems untill then post your knowledge and ideas on this topic for other who seek to better their engine performance through a good pcv system.

never over look the PCV system it is as important as the need for a piston in your motor. a good system will extend the life of your motor.
for a bone stock motor the stock routing of the PCV system works fine but every motor deserves to be improved in anyway to make it run more efficiently
the exhaust scavaging method is simple and is quite effective if set up right. kits are actully still sold from companies like mr gasket and moroso. but im having a little trouble trying to find the kit online or any illustrations of sort. its just a simple breather cap with a single outlet that plugs in were the pcv valve goes. then a tube is run down to the exhaust were a metal tube is welded into the exhaust stream. both are connected with a one way valve for incase of a backfire it wont blow into your crankcase. its a great system that works all the way up to a full drag engine.
now for other race engines they use belt drivin or electric vacuume pumps to vent the crankcase. but these can be very expensive to the extensive for just a street vehical. but i have an idea that i have been wanting to try for so long. by using the air smog pump found on our fords. a stupid part that we always rip off and throw away for our carbed motors. but im not talking about the old pumps i mean the new ones on like 91 and up vehicals. were the intake and exhaust of the pump have seperate nipples that hoses hook to. instead of the old ones were the intake was drawn in from behind the pully. you can probbaly see were im going with this. go to the junk yard pull off a newer air pump that pulls good vacuume, swap pullies from your old one (or do serpentine belt swap on the whole motor, ive been wanting to do this aso) bolt on to your motor i dont kno if their is any custom work to be done for the mounting braket, hook up belt, buy an open breather cap with single oulet to hook a hose to, run that to the sucking inlet of the pump, (might need a reducer) then run a hose from the exhaust outlet of the pump and either run it into your exhaust or into a oil catch can with a filter or run that into the air cleaner housing. even tho you could just have it blow off into the atmosphere or to the ground but why pollute and be a scum bag. and were your second pcv valve is you can just put a good breather at so that fresh clean air can be drawn in. dont block it off or else over time you could suck gaskets into the motor. sounds weird but without a PCV gaskets will blow out.
now im really gunna have to try my experiment and do a write up for all to see. along with the serpentine belt converstion that one might be tricky since their is all of them damn pullies for this and that and they dont sell belts for the 6 that dont have AC. but the old measure with a peice of rope trick will work.
1)Pcv valve for an 85 F150. Hooked to vaccum tree on intake.
2)Vented oil cap. Except during periods of high humidity my oil is fine. I get a little bit of white scuz when the humidity is high though.
