I refused a powder extinguisher when my 79 caught fire under the hood at the gas pump. The guy gave me the powder and I said that i wanted water. He said that it was a grease fire. I said no it isn't, now get me a bucket of ice. The flames were about 2 feet high on the intake. I threw the bucket of ice on the motor and killed the flames.
I used to service and inspect fire extinguishers. That powder is corrosive and messy. I wish they made a mini rechargeable liquid fire extinguisher.
oh were talking fires. Was helping a guy work on a 87ish GMC pickup and it backfired and caught the hood insulation on fire, he tried to turn it over, but it wouldn't, so we pushed it outside and watched it burn, we did all this in about 15 seconds. All we had to say was good riddance, that truck was a pain in the butt. Kinda fun to watch a GM burn
I wish they made a mini rechargeable liquid fire extinguisher.
They do, but they call them "Garden sprayers"......
With the right mods, they can also be used to make a pressure bleeder for brakes. I got one modded for bleeding the brake/clutch hydralics on a RX7.
