On my 77 F150 2WD, looking at the factory service manual instructions for removal of the actual radius arm, it calls for removing the tie rod end from spindle. Would you have to do this to just replace the axle pivot bushing itself?
Second question - is there a decent step by step instruction for removing the axle pivot bushing (I've searched and found good write-ups for the radius arm bushings - easy - but not the axle pivot bushings.
It would be much easier to replace the pivot bushings with the beams out of the truck than just leaving them hanging under it. I did a pair of the last week and I removed the beams, radius arms, and coils all together which does require seperating the tie rod ends. I used an air chisel to remove the old bushings but a hammer and chisel or bushing cutter would work too. Then I cleaned the bores and drove the new ones in with a hammer and a flat piece of 1/4" steel.
