The white ground wire coming from my 7-pin plug on my truck has a small break in the sheath exposing some of the copper. I am thinking this may have something to do with my weak trailer brakes? Can someone tell me how to fix this break in the sheath? Thanks.
I have no way of being able to say from here whether the open copper is causing your brake problem (other than to say it's possible). If the break is away from the connector, you could just tape the snot out of it. Better, if you can get it onto the wire without cutting it, would be to use a heat shrink sleeve.
If the gap is right by the connector, a small glob of silicone rubber will seal it up. Be sure to check to make sure corrosion hasn't gotten into the connector.

I also doubt if this would cause your problem.......I too, have what appears to be weak brakes on my 5er, but when I needed to make an emergency stop, I found out they really weren't so weak. Do you have the Ford TBC? Or an aftermarket?
