I have recently bought a 00 F350 cc lariat 4x4 to pull my 5th wheel and need to put a trailer plug and a brake controller on it. There is a plug at the back of the truck by the bumper that looks like it has been used before. Also how can I find out if the truck is wired for a brake control. I've read where some have the wiring in the dash, and some don't. I don't have a owners manual. what do I look for, and how do I get at it. Thanks.
The back plug should be all set up for a trailer you will just have to make sure that the fuse and relay for 12 power in installed in the fuse block under the hood. The plug for the brake controller is under the dash, remove the panel below the steering wheel and look to the right it will be a gray plug below the radio. You may have to go to Ford for a pigtail that plugs into it if it's not in your glove box.
rvpuller,
Looked under the dash and sure enough there is a plug. Not sure about the fuse and relay as I don't have an owners manual. Do you know if the brake controller is plug and play, or something else. This truck is new to me, and I'm learning more about it all the time. Maybe I can find some things at the junk yard. Thanks
You can get a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller (one of the best) and a wiring loom from Tekonsha that plugs into the truck and into the brake controller. It is plug and play.
On some years, they didn't put all of the fuses and relays in. You can find your owners manual here...

The manual for our 2000 says the fuse (30 amp) in located in spot #16 and the relay is in #39.

That's the controller I was going to get. Thanks for the link to the owners manual, always nice to know where fuses are and what bulbs to replace with when needed. Thanks
