I'm about to replace my rear drums and shoes on my 86 F350 4x4 with single rear wheels and Dana 70. I'm looking for any pointers or tips as well as things to be looking for while replacing.
Xeleventy one side at a time. I had never done Ford rear drums before this truck. The brake hold-down pins are in a hook shape. I was like WTF IS THIS when I first saw them.

Is there a special tool to hook those? I had to use a brake spring tool and pry it close and my hand or needle nose to spin the hook to catch. It was very hit or miss. I probably did things out of order, but the bottom spring that runs parallel with the ground was a real PITA to seat because of the hook at its ends and how it goes so close to the parking brake cable. I think I made the parking brake cable fall off its cam guide a dozen times on each drum.
What's the difference between the Sterling and D70 besides the drums?
