Repaired the problem with the light and nothing. I still get codes. Erase them then restart and they come back. I'm still thinking PCM reflash, but it was worth a shot. Thanks for the help 1997F-350.
0380 GP Glow plug ckt malfunction Glow Plug Relay - KOEO OCC test Open/grounded ckt, solenoid open/shorted, failed PCM
if so i would think the last two words of that code....or maybe your VSS. have you replaced that yet? isnt there some sensors on the side of the tranny as well?
i dont see how this would affect your tranny unless it was the pcm part in that case i dont think a reflash is going to help ya. assuming your truck has been starting over the last couple winter months ok?
sorry i dont know a thing about auto tranny's. i've never owned an auto anything except this current piece of dura i drive now.
have you tried disconnecting the batteries with the headlight switch on to reset pcm? is your truck chipped?
i cant remember the name of the place....they sell the aftermarket tranny with a purple torque converter and "BUILD" powerstroke tranny's..maybe a call into him might point you in the right direction. sorry i cant help more.
I've checked the VSS and it seems ok. The speedometer has never acted up so I think I'm good on the VSS. There is another sensor on the trans, but I can't remember what it is. My buddy with the trans shop has done a few rebuilds for me (good ones) and he says the multiple trans codes sounds like what happens when the harness to the trans is disconnected, but that never happened. He thinks it might be the PCM.
I've simply been trying to keep this thing in great shape and get it sold without spending gobs of $$$ on it. Looks like I should head to the stealership. Hate to do that.
New news on my PCM/GPR/P0380 issue. While tinkering around in there, I had my son turn the key on. My arm was laying on the GPR. It cycled on as usual and then got red hot quick. Burned the $#&% out of my arm. This is either the first time this has happened or the first time I noticed it. Do you think this might point to a short under the valve cover. It was mentioned early on when first started in on this project. I guess I'll go ohm checking again.
as has happened in my(dad) case the ipr wiring and fuel bowl burnt the pcm.....you may or may not have this problem but all those wires down there are interconnected. go digging i guess. hopefully you dont have the same problem i do. have you replaced the Gpr? i do not endorse the CHEAPO napa 109 any longer. in your case it may work for the short term though
