That bus is a 2003 which has the PI heads. No spark plug problems with those. I have an 03 F450, and the engine is great. I get 10-11 on the highway with my 03, which is about 1-2 better than my 09 F550 V10. You should get 10-11 MPG with that. Buying a higher mileage bus, I'd buy a V10 over a diesel, because repairs are way cheaper when needed. Most issues with a V10 the engine will still run. When something goes wrong with the diesel, it's tow time!
The 2 valve V-10 has the same issues. It's basically a 5.4L engine with 2 extra cylinders.
Yup. Matter of fact, you all remember the Boss 351 concept car back in 1999? Mustang with a 351cid V10 in it. Very interesting how they made that motor. They took a 281 4.6L and literally grafted on two more cylinders to it! This saved a ton of loot on new castings for a prototype engine. BTW, 281cid + 25% for the extra two cylinders equals 351 cubic inches.
