From what I have read it is kind of tricky hooking up the wires if the truck didn't have one originally. A few years ago a seller on ebay said that he would supply the instructions for the wiring if you bought a console from him and that his wiring would work while others wouldn't. Never did follow through on it but it might be a source of info for you.

The question is what are you really wanting it for?
The lie o meter doesnt work accurately for most.
The only useful things are the temperature and compass.

I agree. The temp is nice, but those can be had cheap at any autoparts store. And the compass is in every GPS unit. Plus, I have yet to see the lie-o-meter match my hand calculated numbers, either that or my odometer is way off. hmmmmmm . . . maybe I should check it with the GPS.

I do know that older (99-00 ?) Lariats had the cubby up top. Mine does have a sunglass storage spot which is nice, and the garage door opener cubby. Mine is always set on the temp function. No help on how to retro-fit, however. Sorry.

yeah i like the authentic factory look of the compass and temp but yeah the lie o meter is useless i would rather just do it by hand and yeah i like the cubby. I need all kinds of extra storage in my truck for all my crap!

My lie-o-meter is consistently off by 3mpg, so if it shows I'm getting 22.3, hand calculating will have me at 19.3 typically. I have an extra OHC in tan that I bought a while back for a project that I decided I'm not doing; the electronics are there but not working. (PM me if interested). I like having the temp & compass up there too; it just a nice thing to have.

yeah it is real nice to have cause i dont always have my GPS with me as to my wife is directionally challenged and needs it more. Does the electronic not work at all or just not hooked up? i guess all you would have to do for the temp and compass is run a power wire to it i reckon right?

It looks like the chips started coming off & a repair was attempted but didn't work. I don't know if it could be repaired or not, but might be worth a try.
