Dad has an 87 F250 that the paint has been flaking off for the past 2 yrs. I know it's a problem for that era. The truck is going to need painting but in the meantime, is there something to put on the bare areas that won't make it more difficult to work with when it does go into the paint shop. Need to prevent any rust but not put anything on that will be labor intensive to get back off.
Dad bought the truck new and it has no dents or rust currently. Very well kept, low mileage (73,000 original) I tried light sanding and rattle can paint on my 86 and it did not work a few years ago.
Thanks for any ideas. I am not an informed paint/body man.
I would think the spray cans of Duplicolor fast drying primer would do the job for the meantime. keep in mind it does not last very long because it does not have UV protection. work the bare areas with 320 grit by wet sanding it then clean the area with paint thinner.. mask up and cover areas you do not want painted.
