Touching Up Rust Spots
Touching Up Rust Spots
I have a few rust spots along the bottom of my truck and wheel well. I want to touch them up to prevent further damage. I plan on keeping the truck for many years and the nothern winters will take a toll.
I was thinking just use a little POR 15, but my truck has the tan 2-tone.
I guess some black spots will look better than rust spots, just wondering if anyone out there had a better plan of attack or a good process to use.
Thanks, Rich

This should be moved to the correct forum.
To answer your question:
Rust is something you cannot stop, it's happening to brand new trucks on the lots as we speak.
POR is a good product though, but it is only putting a cover on the real problem. The rust will eventually come back.
The only real fix is grinding it off or if bad enough cutting out and placing/welding a repair panel patch.
Check around, usually some good forums on bodywork for amateurs. Another source would be checking with your local classifieds and find a body tech that can fix your truck on the side to save some cash.
