I've been looking for a low mileage Excursion with the 6.8L engine for the past few months. I found this one which has been wrecked. I wonder how much repair is actually needed? I would do an 2005 front end upgrade anyway but I am concerned about frame damage...
Does it have a clean title or salvage title? Some insurance companies have different policies concerning salvage titles. I looked into this when my old truck was totalled and the insurance co would only give salvage value insurance, meaning after it was fixed, if anything else ever happened, the payout to fix the truck would only be their "salvage price" or less depending on the damage. Just my 2c
take a look under it and check the gaps around the other panels to just get an idea of frame damage. My concern would be the price, anything can be fixed. X2 on the newer front end. Where did you find it?
The vehicle is located in VA. I am not able to examine the damage first hand without making a roadtrip. I have contacted the seller to determine if it has a clean or salvage title. Thanks for making me aware of that critical issue. The vehicle appears to be priced right at $6,900 and is listed on Autotrader.com.
if they cut that price in half then maybe....doesnt look bad at all i've fixed worse before. frame horn/tow hook doesnt look moved. looks like fender, hood, header panal, bumper headlight/corner light..maybe a tad more once you get in there but not thinking alot.
There's no such thing as a little frame damage. It either goes on the rack, or it doesn't. I had a guy run a stop sign and hit mine. I don't think mine looked as bad as the truck pictured, but it was over $12K in repairs, including frame work. I would assume the frame is tweaked after a frontal impact, especially on the corner like that. The truck pictured looks like it took a hit just like mine did.
I would that "atleast" the front left will needs to be pulled out and I would be interested if they came down to 5900. If you get a chance to look at it, you'll have a better idea. Good luck
That's waay too much money for a wreck with a salvage title.
There was a nice '01 with 95,000 miles sold at auction in Norfolk about 6 weeks ago for $3,000, very nice, ran great and only needed an inside clean up. Check out some of the government auction sites for some really good deals in the mid-atlantic area.
I think that around $2,000 is more like a good price for a total.
Also AIA auctions are good and in NC as anyone can buy at them, you don't have to be a dealer.
If you look at pic 1 and 2 you will see the driver side tow hook is bent down. The tow hook is connected to the frame rail so chances are if that tow hook is bent the frame may be bent to.
The damage looks a lot worse than the one with the $12K repair.
If it were a diesel I could see the price being right considering you're adding $3-4K for the motor. For what they want and the damage it's something you're better walking away from.
