Just a quick question on replacing the brake pads on my 2k1 Explorer Sport. Is there anything special I need to be aware of when changing the brake pads on my X with Anti-Lock Brakes?
I use to change the brakes on my old 95 Mustang, but it didn't have ABS. Just wondering on any special handling I need to do with the sensors etc...
If you have changed disc brakes before, you shouldn't have any problems with your X. They are standard discs. I would suggest using some Titanium Bendix pads if you can. I have found they work better and last a little longer than normal pads...
FishX, I just did the pads on mine. It's the easiest brake job I've ever done. The rear discs are much easier to do than drums, and you won't encounter the ABS sensors while changing the pads.
Remember to use a little high temp lube on the pad slides.
