i just rebuilt my automatic 93 f250 460ci and it shifts at 4 grand. only 4 grand. it doesnt kick down or anything and i swear i still havnt had it shift into 4th gear because 4 grand in 3rd gear is around 85 in my truck. how can i adjust this?
Yea check for codes would be my first suggestion as well, that and do a quick check make sure you plugged everything back in.
The solenoid pack (Passenger side) and MLPS (Drivers side) connectors both? Both good solid connections (fully locked on) and added dielectric grease to them?
i just realized i may have made it sound like i re-built the tranny. tranny is stock. engine is re-built. ha sorry if thats how it sounded.
no codes.
and im almost positive all the electric connections are in good and all hooked up.
what does MLPS stand for? and where exactly is that solenoid? i do have a gold colored solenoid looking thing that i thought was attached to the vaccum lines..

'93? You have a C6 transmission, not a E4OD?
If its a c6 (three speed without overdrive) then you have a shift modulator, the "gold colored solenoid looking thing" and that should have a vac line and it should be connected directly to the intake manifold for full engine vacuum.
But you stated you didn't think it shifted to fourth?
i was told it should have a 4th gear and even though when i 1st got it i didnt pay much attention i thought it shifted a 3rd time. i def seem to be running higher rpm at around 70 75 than i was before i re-built the engine. and it doesnt kick into the next gear until it hits 4k which is bothersome because then it holds at 3-3.5 thousand rpm at the speeds i use more commonly. it used to kick down.
Ok then check that vac line to the trans, you probably just missed it when working on the engine.
Its a short section of rubber down at the trans pan, changes to metal tubing up the trans to the back of the intake, then changes back to rubber again. At least it would have been that way stock, someone may have ran rubber all the way. That's fine just make sure its away from the exhaust and no leaks.
thanks alot. il check, everytime i shut off my truck i hear a hissing sound from a vaccum leak behind my uppr plenum sumwhere. that might be it. thanks.
