HELP! No crank!
Put key in ignition turned to start, and went to get something for 2 mins max. Tnurned the key, no crank. Tried a few more times, key out and back in, still no crank. I can hear a relay click, but that's it.
What's up?!?!
if it happens again try turning the wheel to the left like you would to unlock a stuck shifter (auto) and see if that works.
If not it could be a number of other things, start with battery connections (these corrode easily), fuses and relays of course, and check your contacts on the starter.
If the relay your hearing is under the dash, and not under the hood, very carefully try this at your own risk - there is a solenoid on the passenger side fender, mounted just in front of the vacuum pump, in this order, remove the cap on the lower terminal, turn the key to on, make sure the truck is in park / neutral, then take a screwdriver with good insulation on it and holding it by the handle touch the blade across both large contacts firmly, if the truck turns over you need a new solenoid. about $20 at your parts store.
if none of this works, check your battery - body ground at the driver side negative cable for good contact, then have your batteries tested.
Outside of that, I know some folks have had problems with the halo wiring in the steering wheel, but not sure how common this is.
