Yeah just for the benefit of everybody.. unlike GM the Ford 5.0 and 5.8 motors use completely different blocks with almost no interchangable parts.. besides the heads, and that's the reason you need a complete 5.8 motor do do one of these swaps.

Paul, I had always thought that they were essentially the same blocks....just a taller deck on the 5.8. Other than that, I really couldn't tell you any other differences. I was aware that the heads can be swapped(from all the gt-40 head threads), but not much more than that.
I think the best way to learn will be to just go ahead and find an engine and pull it apart
