I have a 1995 ford F-350 with a 7.3L and was wondering if a 2000 for 7.3L inter cooler from an excursion would be mountable in the 1995 body style without a lot of fabricating to mount the intercooler and they are both stock any help would be apreciated thanks
Best of luck and let us know how it goes. I am a few parts and a month or two away from having everything ready to do mine. The IC pipes are the difficult part for me, but I know I'll find something.
It is not a hard install at all. You will just have to remove some sheet metal from both sides of the radiator to allow the tubes to stick thru. That is all. Not very hard at all. I used a sawzall and a cutting blade on the grinder. Some have used plasme cutters or torches. They are quicker but messier.
The hardest part is where there are two layers of sheet metal. I had to cut thru one then cut the second one. Read the links deadsenator posted up. You will get alot of knowledge from them.
Like I said not a hard job. Can be done on a saturday afternoon.
The plumbing of the pipes is not too hard either you just need several pipes to work from to get the bends you need. Oh and the turbo connections can be a bit elusive but not impossible.
I used the grinder. Not too bad really. The piping was my biggest problem as I had to get a shop to do the fabbing. I suppose I coulda made my own from new exhaust piping.
Awww, thanks fellas. Really, it's all on you guys. I could not have collected those links without the modding community. I love learning and the atmosphere amongst the modders is friendly and encouraging. I am simply following the standard set by those around me by sharing this information. Ok, I'll stop before anyone
