I'm planning on installing a 4 inch lift on my truck(2009 F250 4x4 SC) over the Memorial day weekend. I have limited resources so I'm just gonna do it in my driveway with bottle jacks and jack stands.
The biggest problem I foresee is supporting the truck on stands. The front suspension has to hang freely during the install which means i would have to place the jack stands behind the radius arms which as most of ya'll know connect damn near the middle of the truck.
Will placing the stands there(i.e. behind the radius arms) be okay? Any suggestions?
As long as the jack stands are rated for the weight it should be fine. I would use 4 ton minimum jack stands. You can also put jack stands under the "blocker beam" in the front for added safety, but I don't know if I would support weight with it.
I used some tall 6 ton stands behind the radius arms without a problem, but I did just what cartmanea said and I put some smaller normal sized 2 tons under the front with some blocking just to be safe.
