Hey Number Dummy,

You guys deciphered my VIN an thread "VIN Plate Vexations," but can you decipher the rest of this for me?

W.B. 129 Color JM Body E81 Trans C Axle 08

MAX GVW 05000 CERT NET M.P. 172 RPM 4000 DSO 74

Hey, so what was my original color? Judging from the paint I can see under the chipped cab paint, I'm guessing it was two-toned: Rangoon Red on bottom, and Wimbledon White on top?

Garbz

Ha ha ha ha Thanks for the help, ND!!!

I have an automatic transmission now. I wonder when someone replaced it. I noticed dash pictures of other 66 F100s, and they had the circular speed gauge in the middle of the dash -- mine is the kind that spans from 0 mph on the left to 100 mph all the way on the right. I wonder if that was stock, or if they reinstalled that along with the steering column (I have the automatic on the tree) at the same time...

You posted a C for the TRANS code, but...see below.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD's have a plastic instrument cluster bezel which houses a sweep speedo and separate round fuel and temp gauges.

The round oil/amp gauges were an option except on 1965/66 F100/250 Camper Specials.

Take a close look at your TRANS code. Is it really a C? It be a G

If a G = MX Cruise-O-Matic.

GOOD CALL! I just checked (I have a pic of the VIN warranty plate on my cell phone).

Zoomed in, and .... it's a G ! Cruise-O-Matic, it is. I guess I'll have to tell my friends to start calling me Cruiser.

Ah youth...it's too bad it's only available when one is young.

At my age (which is twice yours), I'm into slow cars and any woman I can find!
