Hey yall I am new here so hey!! I bought a 2008 F250 SCC with a V10 this past Saturday the truck has 40000 miles on it. I had the truck on the Interstate today and it began to rain. I got home and left again about an hour later when I got back in the truck I noticed that the carpet was a little damp under my feet so I checked all the way around the truck. The passenger side was more wet than the driver and the driver side rear was a little damp. Question is how and why is my carpet wet. I never got out in the rain and nobody rode with me. I love this website and thanks in advance for the answers. I have never owned a truck like this before so I am a little nervous!!
You have a leak. Could be window. Could be something else. Get out a hose and try to find it, or pay somebody to do it for you. I had an intermittent problem with a Chevy truck. Ended up that the previous owner took the boot off the harness between the door and the cab. This let water into the cab, but it didn't get the floor wet until a well in the front quarter panel filled up and over flowed into the foot area. I found this using a hose. Putting the boot seal back in place solved the problem. I removed the entire carpet and dried everything out.
Welcome to FTE. I'd say there's 2 possibilities. 1) you heater core is leaking but that's unlikely with the rain and you not mentioning the smell that would go along with it, or 2) you've got a bad seal on your windshield.
An easy test is to find a lazy, dry afternoon and grab your favorite beverage. Then take a garden hose with a pressure nozzle and spray your windshield seal to see if you can duplicate the problem. It will likely take a while, but should point you in the right direction. Do you know if the windshield has been replaced recently?
Thanks for the quick response. The funny thing about the water is that it is in the center of the floor it is not damp anywhere except in the middle of the floor and it is not wet at all on the passenger side rear. There is a rubber groumet? on the underneath part in about the center of the floor area mabey silicon that up? Thanks again!!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Is the truck a standard transmission or automatic?
Should not be coming from the shifter then, manuals have a large opening in the tranny tunnel but autos do not.
Not a bad idea on the silicone. Just do it when the weather is clear for a good day or so, otherwise you will be hearing Greatfull Dead music the next time you drive, even if your radio is not on.
