i was wondering if someone could tell me what they think, or the difference. I have a 99 ford f-250 superduty. The overdrive light begins to blink off an on and then it will shift really hard. im really not sure if it is the power control module or the transmission control module.
I have a 2004 F-250 4x4, AOD 5.4. My trans did that when it was cold. OD light would flash and shifting would be hard. I was told that it was cold and I did not let the truck warm up before I started driiving. Doesn't get cold down here in Florida too often and it only happened once. Hope that helps
yea i hear you. i live in florida. i took it to ford they told me it was the power control module, but by doin some research it sounds more like the transmission control module?
The OD light did flash and it did shift hard. Its located in the top of the transmission towards the rear third. I needed to drop the X-member and lower the transmission to replace it. Total job took about 45mins.
I would, however, get the scan tool on it to make sure it's that sensor. There is also a similar sensor towards the front of the transmission; Turbine Shaft Speed sensor. (as a note the sensor is identical for either location)
There are about 50 things that can cause problems like this. If you're going to change parts based on what fixed some other truck you're going to spend a lot more money to fix this than if you just had the codes read and knew where to look.
