Leaving now to go to Advance Auto to pick up the items for my tune-up. Motorcraft spark plugs, intake gaskets, & PCV Valve. Question is, on some of the pictures I have of a V6 Escape pcv valve, I see a tube that a hose attaches to that is "V" shaped around the PCV Valve. What is that tube for? and why is 1 PCV Valve offered with the "V" tube and 1 does not have the "V" tube? I'm also going to clean the Thrittle body and MAF Sensor. Should be a great day under the hood. Any other suggestions for the tune-up and pm.
All went well with the tune-up. I changed spark plugs, lower and upper intake gaskets, PCV Valve, checked the torque on the valve cover gaskets, cleaned the throttle body, idle air control valve, and Mass Air Flow sensor. I inspected all the vacuum lines and EGR components. Air filter was changed and oil 7 filter changed and replaced. The Escape runs like new money. Only thing that happened was I broke the clip that holds the hood bar when the hood is closed. All in all it wasn't a bad experience. The best advice I can give is take your time, follow the Haynes manual and/or instructions from this forum and it will go well. Take care to check all the hoses as you are putting things back together. The job took me about 4 hours including the filter changes and all the cleaning I did.
