This is a stupid question, but i have not had my truck too long:
Where is the PCV valve on a '94? I looked on the valve cover, but did not spot it. I am planning on a major tune-up and I want to replace it. Also, what are your favorite brands of plugs and wires? I want to get something a little better than the cheapies from autozone or wherever.
Autolite plugs and wires are usually pretty good and are reasonably priced. I've used their basic copper-core plugs all the way up to their double platinum with fairly good results. I also like NGK, Bosch, Champion, and even AC Delco. I know there are others out there, but I've not used every brand out there. Your pcv valve may be in-line and not in the valve cover, I'm not quite sure. I've seen them actually in the intake manifolds and connected to a hose that connects to the valve cover on some engines (not necessarily the 300/4.9).
i just did an overall tuneup on my truck myself. i used autolite copper plugs (mainly cuz literally everyone on here speaks so well of them), Taylor thundervolt 8.2mm wires (also a strong reccomendation), and while i had everything all torn apart i replaced the cap and rotor on my distributor, and put a new blaster coil on since the old one was eroding away on the contacts. I had just gotten my truck not long ago, and i dont beleive that any of that has been changed. after all that it did seem to run a little smoother. as far as the pcv valve goes on my 95 f150 with the 4.9, it is literally in the very back of the engine area. go to the drivers side with the hood up and you will see it on the very rear of the valve cover. its kinda a pain in the butt to get to.
