No, the oil filler tube on the passenger valve cover.

I will PM you my cell number. Yes, I'm on Verizon.

Try to get a set of 1/4" wobble extensions. Makes the job much easier.

10 ft/lbs on the injector bolt (book says 120 inch/lbs, its the same)

20 ft/lbs on the rocker bolts

8 ft/lbs on the valve cover bolts (just snug em up)

Yes, they loosen up over time and its a good idea to tighten them back up any time you're in there. Around 6 of my injectors needed a half a turn or so and most of the rockers needed a little tightening. Its not like they're coming completely loose and falling off, just very slowly loosening.

I had both covers off when I did the glow plugs. I found the driver's side to be easier. I got that one bolt in the back with a knuckle between my socket and extension. The passenger's side was tricky... I had to shove everything outta the way and then shimmy it out. Here's the link to my glow plug thread... it should hopefully give you an idea of what I had to do to get it off:

Yes...Trevor is giving you the torgue specs on them so you can do a little bit of preventive maintenance while in there...the 50cent mod has got to be, hands down, the best mod i ever did...the stealership wanted @ $800 to fix mine, and it only cost me .50 and a little bit of time...i am another one that thought the passenger side was easier to get to...i wish i would've seen this thread earlier, wouldn't have minded getting a little dirty....i miss my damn truck...

Thanks for all the help, guys. Took right at 4 hours (and went ahead and did the foil delete) - could probably do it under 2 next time - only to find out that the harness had been zip tied so it wasn't going to come off anyway. Oh well - enjoyed working on it, and went ahead and replaced it with the quarters, so at least I could add "50 cent mod" to my sig - ha. Thanks again. I thought the drivers was pretty easy. I had no probably getting that bolt in the back (although it gave my buddy fits for about 15-20 minutes). Guess he's a passenger side is easier person. I also thought the IC tube on the drivers side was easier to remove.

Oh - one question. The heater hose that runs down and closest to the fan... Should that have been on the backside (behind) the passenger's side IC tube or in front (on top of) it. Couldn't remember and I couldn't find the correcting routing "fit" when you know that's how it went. Guess I should have taken pictures. Thanks again.

To hijack this thread a little bit. My valve covers are leaking - but since they are reusable, should I just pull the covers off, check the gaskets and re-install or buy new gaskets right now?

Thanks
Joe

You could take one side off and see what the gasket looks like. You may only need to retorque the bolts to 8 ft lbs. Good luck.

I did tighten the bolts down already and that did not work. I guess I will buy the gaskets to have on hand and take them off and see what I am looking at.
Thanks
