Tax refunds are great. I think. I've never had one but I hear people talking about what they are going to do with MY money so they must be great. I always land up paying some more so people can get their earned income (thats a joke) refunds.
BDV: Always send your tax payments to the IRS by registered mail. That way you have proof they recieved it. You can file a special form for a lost payment. It happened to me once, and they ended crediting me a small amount. But I sent them another payment when I learned they lost the first one. I sent it registered of course.
Now you know what us quarterly guys go through four times yearly .
I got my taxes back in 36 hours.
I had mine done by a pro and had it done electronically with automatic deposit.
I didn't get hardly anything back this year tho because I made to much money and I was claiming single and 1 (big mistake, get no refund)
But I spent in on a rifle and the rest is going into the double 6
Oh, another note... Dont trust the IRS with your bank account.
My money was a "loan" type thing.
The money was depositied into Freemans Tax Service account, then they transferred the money to me.
That way the IRS doesnt have control of my account.
It's always best to owe at the end of the year. Work everything out to pay $100 or se in federal Taxes thst way the government can't use your money and not pay you for it. I f a bank loans you money, you pay interest. If the Irs gives a refund, it's never returned with interest. How the heck is that fair?
Im not sure I understand how its better to owe.
Either way you get money sorta.
You either get a bit more each paycheck, or some at the end of the year.
Thanks for the input!
I am not ignoring the debt, it's a matter of not being able to pay it. And they can try to seize my assets:
1 Upside down Saturn
1 Ford Truck, value: not much
1 drumset
1 bass guitar
1 pair of work boots
10 shirts, pants underwear
1 jar of Creamy Peanut Butter.
1 Out dated computer, heavily loaded with music and dirty pictures
Total Value of all listed items: >$1500
Come and Get It!
My girlfriend is going to pay it off lump sum this week with her return, since I did the same for her last year.
And as far as getting a return, I wasn't counting on it, anyways. I claim Single, 1.

BDV: Watchout they may make you play that bass to earn a living so they can garnish your wages, which would be paid on a 1099 set up. So if you are any good, beware.
In reality you can set up your deductions on your paycheck to closely match what you may owe at the end of the year. It depends upon your deductions, income etc. I think it is best, if you have the deduction done through witholding, to owe about $100.00 at the end of the year, over and above what you have paid in through the witholding. Takes a little figuring, but you can do it.
