ok this is my first year doing the "automatic deposit" tax return, where they deposit your return straight into the bank. its *supposed* to take 10 days. does anyone else have enough experience as to whether or not it shows up in ten days, or 4 months?
other question- what does everyone plan to do with their return????
5 days? awesome! i just sent in last years return last december and got it back in about 2 weeks. and they did directly deposit it into my checkin account.
mmmmm I can't wait to get the money back they stole from me. If you started working before you were 18(i'm 18 now, but not when I started working) and you make like less than 10k a year do you get it all back?
Try Taxslayer.com. You download the software, and for $9.95
you can file your federal, and state taxes electronically.
I submitted them on 1/21/03, and had federal back Friday,
1/31/03 ....10 days. I've been real happy with their software.
yeah, it's about 10 days in my expirience. I guess if you save those lazy IRS folks some work by running it through a computer you get it back faster. Don't send them too much though, you might get audited (now, where did I put those IOU's? ).
What's a refund? Haven't got one yet. I've had to pay in the last three years and haven't figured this years yet. Last year was over $1000 but I'm not complaining, at least I'm making money I wouldn't mind at all though if they gave me a great big tax cut.
yeah if you look on the irs site, theres one thats free if you're 20 or younger, for online filing. I've done it online for a couple years now and it's always been within 2 weeks that I got it back.
as for what it's used for....a little of it for truck parts of course...but the rest is going for extra down money on a house in the near future.
I haven'nt had a tax return in over 10 years. I send the government enough money every year to buy a BRAND NEW FORD PICKUP. It is a crying shame
I have to spend my time figuring ways to reduce my liability so I pay less to a government that squanders every nickel they take from me.
I would rather see a consumption tax based upon what I buy rather than how much I earn. The current system makes me sick.
More importantly, the government needs to be reduced to a size that matches the income it taxes. There would be no need for deficit spending. We must learn to force the politicians to spend only what we allow them to take from us. Not a nickel more. But you see, they got you guys when they do automatic witholding from paychecks. Your employer acts as an unpaid tax collector for the government, and they have you fooled into thinking they are "giving" you money back. It is your money because you OVERPAID in the witholding. You should instruct your employer to withold less money, especially if your check is over $1000.00.
I guarantee if you all paid quarterly taxes 4 times yearly, the tax system would be overhauled right quick!
I still owe from last year!
My former employer had this DUMB accountant that screwed everybody that worked there. I ended up owing $600, but GET THIS: I sent them a check, and they LOST IT! When I told them to just take it out of my account electronically, I was told that I had to wait 9 weeks for them to try to find the check before they could just transfer the funds. So, 7 weeks goes by, I wait, then I lose my job and I have to spend the money on bills. So now I probably owe $800, and I PAID THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!
I hate the IRS.
My girlfriend is getting back like 1300 bucks, so she is going to pay them off for me, and I am going to rub her feet and back and make her dinner and buy her flowers and fix her car, for the next year...
Tell me something: if I owe them money from a previous year, but I am entitled to a return this year, do they send me the money, or apply it to my debt?
BDV
BDV I am pretty sure they will decrease your refund by whatever they think you owe them.
I know you don't ever want to ignore the IRS and think they will just forget about you.
Those folks will sieze your money, real estate, and tangible assets.
They might even come after your FORD!!!
I too am a Quarterly taxpayer, and it just about kills me to send off my hard earned money, so people like Ted Kennedy & Tom Daschle can think up new stuff to spend it on. Then they say "we can't afford a tax cut" Baloney!!
Hey nobody asked me if I can afford to send in my money 4 times a year!!
People should realize that it isn't the Governments money! It's the sweat of the working mans brow!!
Don't take the Govt. cheese, it's a trap, and you're the mouse!!
