Not trying to hijack your thread here but I'm wanting to do the same thing. When I bought my truck it already had a CAI (Volant?) and I want to just put on the 6637 but need the long black air tube that it connects to the CCV piece. Anybody have an extra?
Thanks. I bought my truck new, so I pretty much keep it looking like this. I use Simple Green and spray it straight out of the gallon jug all over the engine. Then I take a water hose and spray it down. You could use a paint brush to clean the gunky parts. I take the 6637 off with the first tube, stuff rags so no water gets into the bracket that holds the CCV port. I use tire shine and whipe it all over everything after it's dry.
Mine rubbed a bit when I first got mine (all I did was take off the top of the air/battery box, remove the lower airbox and nothing else. I do a lot of off-roading so I figured that pinning in down would keep it from shifting. Unfortunately, it was deforming the filter and really rubbing it hard. So I took my Dremel and cut off some of the bottom of the airbox mount to let it sit an inch or so lower. It's still firmly planted and now doesn't rub either. Problem solved for about an hour of work and all it cost me was the beer I drank while I did it!
sounds like a good idea, will need to give it a try too.
Would you (or anyone else) happen to have a picture of what it looks like after you cut it with a dremel?
I could look around for a truck in a junkyard to get the piece from.
Well mine is VERY dirty so i dont really know if thers gonna be any coming back for it
Plus im not sure how long it will last i found there is oil coming from the passenger side IC pipe down by the boot at the battery so it has oil all over this boot and is dripping a teeeny bit.
Here is a link to a really cool cold air box for the 6637 that you can build to replace the stock one. In post 72 mudmaker has a really good templates that you can print. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/71...or-6637-a.html
When i put mine on i had a left over piece of 4" exhaust tube that slid inside the filter and into the intake hose on the truck worked really good with 2 hose clamps.
