I bought my F-150 in late August of last year, just before the 2010 models came out. I had always wanted a gold colored pick-up and it was the color was what sold me. The salesman said that it wasn't a normal color for the 2009 model year but a 2010 color they put on a 2009 truck. This sounded plausable to me.
When the literature for 2010 F-150 came out, I looked at the color schemes and there was NO gold for the 2010 model year. It appears to be a factory color as the window sticker, (see below) lists the color as Amber Gold Clearcoat. My question is, what do I have? Is this some experimental color as I have not seen this color on any other Ford product - car or truck? Can anyone give more information on this color and my truck?
why do salesman always give out BS info??? They "put a 2010 color on a 2009 truck", that's a real good one....
anyways, the Amber Gold was a new color for the 2009 F150, but for some reason Ford dropped it for 2010, I guess it wasn't that popular. I saw that the 2009 Ford Focus came in Amber Gold too, but I'm not sure of any other Ford models that came in the same color...
If the code is GQ, then it's a factory color and as Steve said, your salesperson has proven (once again), that car salesmen are about 1/2 notch higher than real estate agents.
Yeah it was a 2009 model year color only. They dropped it after only one year. I have seen a few Focuses in that color too. I could be mistaken, but I thought I saw a Mustang in that color too. Im one of maybe a handful of people on here that like that color.
its funny this thread was brought up. I just saw an amber gold supercrew XLT 4X4 today on the road with the (09) chrome package. I think it looked pretty sweet. One of the dealers near me had 4-5 of them on the lot from late 2008 to the end of 2009 and it didnt look like he had an easy time selling them. He only got rid of them when his lot was filled with 2010s

You are absolutely right. There is a GQ code on my door jamb sticker.
