I have read several times on this forum about cam gears knocking.
Can you tell me when they knock., at idle or at high RPMs ?
Does it sound like a lifter?
Are there other noises they make?
Thanks for any help, I'm just trying to learn how to recognize this problem.
Mine did it at idle. I thought it a rod knock, but it disappeared when I revved it. Also, when I put my foot on the brake, in gear, and gave it gas, it disappeared. A rod knock will sound louder.
My were new gears in a kit. That is why I tell everyone to buy the Cloyes set. It is a major pain to change once the engine is running.
