Hi guys,
As you can tell i'm not the the 6.0 world, but a buddy of mine needs some help. He has an 04 F-250 Auto with the 6.0(all stock, had it about a month), and now when you accelerate it put out "puffs" of black smoke, no a stream or steady flow but puffs. What would cause this? Its never done this before. any insight and help would be appreiated, thanks guys.
Any DTC's? Could be almost anything...pull and clean the EGR valve...could be FICM (DTC's will be there if so)...Black smoke = rich in fuel. Could be a dirty VGT...pull it out and clean her up. Has anything out of the norm been added to the fuel...additives (non-orthodox)?
no codes have been set yet, and no driveability issues have arised yet. just the smoke when accelerating. he doesnt put anything but fuel in it and go. how would one go about cleaning the vgt?
