easiest place is right behind the rubber splash guard in your drivers side fender well. Just behind the shock mount will be your #4 cylinder. Easy access.... Especially since you gotta tap some threads in there.

yea. I kinda wanted to put it right next to the #7 or #8 cylinder since they run the hottest.

Anyone got a picture of their EGT gauge installation at the back cylinder? I'd like to tap the exhaust manifold for it before I install it but I want to make sure I'll clear the cab/fender/steering shaft/shifter etc

Thanks!

All those nice pictures of my engine when I built it, and I have to post this to show where my thermocouple is located.

I've heard of a lot of problems due to this, the probe isn't calibrated for the guage. It's best to buy a matched set.

Ive got another thread about the pyro from a while back. It should answer any questions. I hooked up the probe to the pyro and heated it with a small propane torch and it seemed to work fine.

And like I said in that thread ...

I've tried replacing probes before without success, even within the same manufacture and model.

Agreed ...

It was worth a shot, however I wouldn't give up yet, I would do some controlled testing before I gave up.

I like that gauge, memories!

Then there is also the price.

I just paid 70 dollars for a Type K thermocouple.

Sometimes the cheapest price is not the least expensive way to go.

The price may mean nothing, or it may be a very low quality thermocouple.
