Well, if you are POSITIVE that there are no boost or exhaust drive pressure leaks, then may I suggest you try a PHP chip.
Last time I was driving up Steven's pass empty, not pulling a trailer, I was in stock tune and the EGT was 1000.
6% grade, cruise control on 60 mph.
Just for grins I switched to the 25 HP tow and the EGT DROPPED to 850.
I couldn't believe it so I turned around, went back down the mountain, and came back up, repeating the experiment and it worked.
You might have too hot of a tune, running 80HP like that.
also forgot to metion borrowed my friends truck wich is an 01 F350 CC long bed with 6 inch lift 35 inch tires same gears edge juice programer I towed my trailer and even climbing a hill with pedal to the floor I could not get temps past 1100. Now I now his tow tune is a lot less HP.
Can you get Jody to email you some different tunes so you can try out? To me it seems odd that you can get 1200 on stock setting. I can run WOT all day and only see 1000-1100, but thats with a van turbo w/a ww. I couldn't tell if my up-pipes were leaking untill I pulled my turbo, just a thought. Hope you figure the EGT's out.
Yes you will see higher egts with the probe in the manifold for sure. I had mine post turbo and i could hold it to the floor and never see over 1000* but after i moved it to the manifold a I couldn't believe the difference in heat.
I don't get much over 1100 in stock only in the higher tunes. I just changed the CPS yesterday because I am running out of thing to try. The truck seems much quieter now and temps seem a little better but still get hot. Have not towed yet I will try that tommorrow.
Here's another observation and a bump to the top. When I switched to 325/65/18's I noticed my egt's would climb faster than before. They are basically 35 x 13 something....
