Name calling, labels

the words that bother me most are "liberal media". while i agree that the media is somewhat one-sided, im just sick of hearing about it. if you didnt watch or listen to "the liberal media" they wouldnt be there. in todays world you have almost a million different ways to get your news and keep up on current events. USE THEM and quit b*tching.

When you consider that Hollywood and the major networks have been predominately socialist for 50+ years, options haven't been available until recently. Its really easy to be sick of hearing about it when you're not the one without options. This is exactly why Fox News is kicking CNN's tail --- people finally have a choice. Its an oasis of balance in a sea of unbalanced leftist socialism.

i believe i said that i agree that the media is somewhat liberal. i am sick of hearing about it though, regarless of how long they have had control. i can complain all week about my grass growing wild, but until i cut it, i have nobody to blame but myself.

can we REALLY blame hollywood and the media for everything? how about we blame lax parenting and stupid kids for imitating stunts they see on tv and in video games? im a gen-x'er who had to raise myself after my folks split up. i watched plenty of movies and still play video games. ive never done anything i saw in a movie or in a game that would cause harm to myself or anyone around me. im nobody special, just smart enough to worry about my own personal welfare. i was lucky enough to have had my parents enstill their values in me and remember them when i needed to. i was not an angel by any strech, dont get me wrong. i just knew that jumping from a high place onto a table or trying to jump over an oncoming car wasnt a good idea.

I never blamed the media or Hollywood. Just stating that they are, and have been historically left. I don't blame the media but you can't deny they have an impact on people. Look at all the teenage girls dressing like Britney, the girls in the 80s dressing like Madonna, the guys in the 60s and 70s with Beatle mop-tops, black women being called ho's by black men, etc. It rubs off on people. Consider propaganda efforts the USA had in WWII as an example, the ***** with the German people, or the media as presented in the Arab nations. Is it any wonder they hate us when you see what is broadcast on their news?

"I feel your pain", Dono. Hey! I just couldn't resist goin' for the obvious "cheap shot". I really don't disagree with your point of view. The dialogue and helpfulness here at this website are what makes it so great. I haven't yet found that abusive language is really tolerated here. Spirited discussion is another story! When you get into the field of politics as a general rule the "labels" are gonna fly! This is, after all, just a site on the internet and sometimes labels just help with brevity. The emotion involved between liberals and conservatives is not always controlled by the intellect. As for me; the only person I can maintain control over is myself. For "liberals" that seems to be a foreign concept.....best wishes
