Please Help! Possible Power Window Circuit Breaker problem??
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer. The passenger side vanity mirrored visor was broke and hanging by the wires so I made the HUGE mistake of just cutting the wires to get it out of my way. (and yes, I am a woman...) Anyway, when I did so, I apparently ROYALLY screwed something up. Now my gas gage stays on Empty, none of my power windows will roll down, and my factory radio will not come on. I looked in the Chiltons repair manual and the only thing I can come up with is that I may have blown a fuse #6-60A in the engine compartment fuse box under the hood. It is not blown. The other one that could have been affected would be the 30A power window circuit breaker also located in the fuse box under the hood. I took it out and took it to a parts store. They checked it for continuity (sp?) and said it too was fine. I am not sure where else to check?? Can anyone help me with where I can look? I have checked all fuses under the dash and they are all fine. Supposed there is another fuse in the "junction box" I have no idea where to find this mysterious fuse box. In the manual it says it is in the passenger side rear?? I have no idea because I have looked everywhere. I am a single mom and cannot afford to take it to a shop and I don't want to become stranded because i have ran out of gas because I cant tell how much gas is in the darn vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have been having the same issue. Although, I did not cut the visor wires, I do have the broken visor. Anyway, my radio, gas gauge and power windows, all do not work. Have you found anything out? Any help you have would be appreciated.
I received not one reply to my question. I am still having the problem and it is driving me nuts! Dont make the same mistake I did. If you over fill your gas tank because you have no idea how much gas is in it, you can mess something else up more major. A fuel sender sensor or something like that. I cannot afford to take mine to the shop and have them overcharge me so PLEASE if you find a solution please tell me what it is! PM me or something. Id greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Based on the factory wiring diagram for 2004, the likely culprit would be fuse F2.17 (15-amp) in the Central Junction Box. That fuse is the only fuse for the vanity mirror lights. The Central Junction Box is the one in the passenger compartment near the parking brake foot pedal.
