So I bought this 01 v10 4x4 limited to tow my 25' around 8kish TT around. it had 126k on the clock when i got it. I have a long list of upgrades planed for it to get it right to tow. ie springs, 4.30's tuner exhaust helwig shocks etc etc. So at about 132k I blew a plug out of the head. An issue i had heard of. did some research and bought the time sert kit. I am very mechanical and wrench on a ton of things. I have built bikes, rock crawlers, hot rods etc so I am confident in my install of the time sert insert. Ok all that bs and here is my question.....Before i dump 3-4 grand in upgrades how reliable is this fix going to be? I dont want to put out a bunch of money and have the fix not last. anyone who has done or has had the time sert done that has put another 60-70000 miles on their rig? opinions? i love the ex and dont want to get rid of her. she is at 142k now with no issues from the repair.

It happens, but I haven't heard of it happening often, or repeatively. If you are comfortable with how it tows, fix and drive. If you don't like it, replace. I would fix it personally, as I love my X. But it's not a gasser. Even so, if it were my v10, i'd fix it.
i have fixed the time sert I was just wondering how they held up. And looking around I just cant afford or like any of the newer stuff. guess ill just mod away!!
I have put about 40,000 miles on mine after the first timesert I put in.
thats what I want to hear!! Except the "first" lol

Sorry should have proof read my last post. Should have read. I had two pop on two different cylinders. The way I wrote it the first time I could see where it could look like the Timeserted plug blew out. Tried editing my last post would not let me sorry for that mess.
