thump!!
having a problem with my f-250 superduty. whenever I take off from a dead start I feel a thump, not hear one just feel it. you know like a weight shift, or drive shaft problem. only have 22000 mi on it its a 2001. took it to ford, the tech said he also could feel it. suppose to take it in next week, I just was wondering if anyone else had a problem like this. any ideas? sorry for the long thread. this is my first posting.

My 02 did the samething it started at about 2500 miles. I lubed the slip yoke but that did not fix it. A new driveshaft and carrer bearing install by the dealer did.

I have been feeling the same thing. My local service department says it is the axle has too much end play. Parts are on order we will see.

I've got a 2002 F-250 SuperDuty and I hear a Thump and feel it. To me it sounds like it's coming from under the drivers seat. Have had it into the dealer and they are bone heads. They can't hear dittle. I am going to take it to a different dealer. But I definately have a Thump too.

I Was Told there Is Plastic Shimes Between Each leave spring . In the Front And Sometimes they wear Out . They Changed Mine . Now I Only Here Once in while . And Only when the truck is cold . I also heard the when there not warmed up . that it is common for the Heater door to cause it when the truck is First Started . Somthing about The Heater Kicking in.

It is more than likely your drive shaft splines. Ford does not grease them at all and when you come to a complete stop you can feel a slight thump as well as when you take off. Take the drive shaft off from the rear end and you have to cut the band off the rubber boot. Mark where you take it apart, so you can put it back the same way and grease it up. Should fix the problem. Use a zip tie for the rubber boot. Later.
