help please

ok,so a coupl years ago my dad was driving my 1978 bronco down the road and said he heard a "pop" sound and then the truck went dead...he seems to think its the carb,can anyone shed some light please?

A pop that can be heard could be the head gasket. That would be the worst case scenario.

Does the truck run now?

Oh, yeah, what's the specifications on your truck?

Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can.

That is a pretty vague description of the problem. I am going to assume it will no longer start. Does it crank? Any visible leaks since it died? If you are certain you have the ignition trilogy (Air, fuel, heat/spark) and it still won't start you are probably dealing with a mechanical failure.

Any indication as to where in the truck this alleged "pop" came from?

yes the truck runs now if you pour fuel down the top of the carb,but other then that it wont run what so ever.

Remove fuel line from carb, connect a hose to the fuel line into a suitable container, turn over engine to check for full fuel flow from fuel pump.

ok,i just tried that,and fuel was coming out of the fuel line no problem.

sounds like the powervalve on the carb popped. is it a holley on there?
