well both my power windows have crapped out and only half *** work. You can hear the window motor cranking away, but the window will move a little bit sometimes and sometimes wont move at all. Its annoying as hell especially since the a/c dont work. Anybody know how hard it is to convert to hand crank windows?
I take my door panels off about once a month or two, it's no big deal at all. To be able to remove the window motors you nee to drill 1/2" holes in the locations marked with small dimples in the sheetmetal, heck if I know why Ford didn't have them pre-cut considering how many other holes there are in them doors from the factory. You'll also have to grind a slot to get to the third bolt, on fullsize passenger cars you drill a hole for it too but the trucks just need a slot starting off at one existing cutout in the door. The bolts for the window motors take 8mm or 5/16" socket, then to pull the motors out the doors you want to have the speakers out first. Then you take the motor gears boxes apart like showed in that link, and from here you have two options - one is to buy new dowels, and the other option is to pull the dowels out and install regular 1/4" hex nuts in their place, you stack two per dowel location so 6 nuts per motor. I've done this more times that I care to remember, it's fairly easy really.

I did exactly what ya said and both windows work perfect now. Man stacking those nuts in there and slipping that gear down in there, talk about aggravation at its finest lmao.
I have to ask, why do you tear into your doors so much>?
Cause I can't leave well enough alone - whether it's installing speakers, swapping mirrors, lubing the linkages, or simply screwing down a cheap cup holder... No particular recurring reason, just random mods here and there.
