My 2007 F-250 wanders left to right while travelling down the road. what happens is the truck will start to drift to the left , so I correct a little to the right, it still is going left so I correct a little more right , it still goes left and when I correct a little more to the right then the truck goes right. This goes the same for drifting to the right .
This only started when I put on new tires Michelin LTX AT 2 ( 275 70 18) and with no visible problems to the new tires my mechanic and I thought that maybe my truck needed an alignment and I couldn't tell with the completly wore out stock coninentals.
So I went and got a wheel alignment but the technician said that he hardly adjested anything. The truck seemed better but the problem was still there. Next I had the front end looked over and everything was fine , nothing wore out or siezed. Next we looked ar the rear axle. One u-bolt on each leaf spring was a little tilted out of place so he removed them and they were strait so intall and re-torque.
Next I took the truck to Ford for a wheel alignment just in case there was a update for the toe in or out . the print out shows the front driver was out a tenth of an inch. Drove the tuck out of the dealership and still had the same drifting problem.
This problem has been going on for 7000 kms now. I mechanic is going to try to get my tires replaced even though we can't see a problem with them
Has anyone had a problem like this before? I need help.
Try having the tires rebalanced. This should be done by a pro shop. Not all balancers are created equal. You could just try rotating them and see if it changes or is eliminated.
Sounds just like the problems I'm having. I don't have a steering stabilizer so I'm going to try adding one.
I have the same tires, so I'm wondering if they are the problem. I NEVER liked Michelin tires. They are near new, and didn't want to spend the money on other ones just in case I still had the problem.
I've rotated the tires twice in 7000 kms. Just talked to my mechanic and he is getting me new tires, just have to pick different ones. I'll let you know if that is the problem.
