K guys...As you may know i sold my 1997 F-350 PSD Crew cab the other day. I got a deposit today. It leaves saturday, when i get the rest of the money. I got 7500 for it. Now, i found a 1997 Ext F-250 PSD on craigslist.com and i went to view it. Very very clean, 125k on the clock..All stock. Its 4X4 and is also a Automatic.. He wants 8 grand for it. But of course i really dont want to spend that much....sooo what shall i offer?
Start at 6500 cash. 65 one hundred dollar bills. See if he takes it. If not see what his bottom dollar is. I got mine with 220k miles for 6200. And thats on the west coast where these trucks hold their value higher than everywhere else.

The last guy i bought my Crew cab from started at 6995..and i got it for 4700...but i really had to work and he wasnt firm on the price. this kid doesnt seem to wanna budge.
Ok. so what were you thinking of offering? Obviously i have no idea what these trucks go for outside of washington, so 6500 was just a guess based on what he is asking and miles. That truck would easily go for 8k out here in Washington.

Well i mean, out here stuff rots/rusts rather quick if not taken care of. This one came here kansas a few months ago. I was going to throw a price of like 6800 or 7000 out first maybe? it has a weird almost grinding noise..sounds like a spun bearing..i think it may be a pulley (i hope). But im not too sure..Im taking rich "AKA Foxracing0934" to inspect it. Theres a guy further south in mass tht has a single cab F-350 with a plow and it has 190k on it. Hes asking 7,500 Firm aswell...Its amazing that people still stay firm in this economy. lol
Thats cuz alot of people can't afford new trucks so they are looking for these older ones making these trucks hold their value. Plus many places are starting to do emissions or will begin once they realize they can make more money that way, our trucks are excluded because of age, which again forces these trucks to hold their value.
Well i hope either way you go that you find a good truck. If it were me i would for sure go with the lower miles one. and i dont see why he wouldn't take 7k for it. cash talks.
I'd offer 6500 cash and see what he says. Show him the money. I got my extended cab manual for 5500 with a lot of new parts on it (clutch, radiator, fan, brake master cylinder, turbo pedestal, fuel pump) all replaced in the last 6-8 months.
I am with everyone on this one.. BBV wont be higher then 6500. I would seriosuely show up with 5-6k in hand (only what he sees).. Most people have that kind of cash waved in their face, and its the only option at that time.. You will walk away with a good deal.
Granted, that is a very nice clean truck, and low miles for a diesel. But in todays market, econo cars trump all. Look at the used car lots.. Whats most of their stock? Trucks! A truck wont move as fast as a Prius! LOL! This leaves the advantage to you, even with private sellers!
With that low of miles that truck would bring 8000 up here easy. These trucks are really popular here. I have a buddy that just bought one up here and paid 10000 for it. It had low miles too. I know that's high, but that's what they go for up here.

Haha, Well nothing moves like a prius, due to not having brakes.
He is looking into buying a toyota pick up...and you can buy one for cheap cheap now a days. So say i gave him 6500...he can buy a toyota for 4 and bank some! But the only thing that sucks is he had to of paid 11,000 for this truck a few months ago. and the jacka$$ told he he towed a uhaul trailer back from kansas with two motorcycles in it at a steady 80mph! why would you ever tell someone you pretty much redlined the truck for a week?!?!?! I dunno, im so up in the air. Its such a clean truck and id like to have another one. but due to slow work right now i almost rather bank the money and drive my car that i have now. But then again i'll end up dumping it into my mustang..And be out of a truck this winter.
