im not quite sure what gears are in the rear end? i think it is 3.08 but not sure? how would you tell?
ive had the truck for a while now, i bought it for a project/daily driver, but i have had to do alot of body work to it! the engine did not run when i got it but it was just a bad coil. i work with boats and usually have to tow them around a good amount and i usually haul alot of stuff around to. I had a newer dodge ram before which i sold when i got this truck running. I was really hoping the 300 would do a better job at towing the boat.
easiest - lill' metal tag on a bolt which holds on the cover 4 your rear end housing.
No tag? Harder (may B). Something like this: U mark a spot on the rear wheel jack it up, mark a spot on the drive shaft then turn the tire by hand and count the revolutions of the drive shaft compared to that of the wheel. Sounds right but I don't know what to do w/the figures.

It should. Yes vac leak can rob power, as Bill sez the higher the number in the "rear gear" the less MPG and the more 'grunt'. Tranny n tire sz also effect this 'power'.
I don't trust tags. To know for certain, jack up the vehicle so the rear wheels are both off the ground. Put it in neutral with the front tires blocked. Get under it and put a chalk mark on the drive tire, and on the drive shaft. Turn the drive shaft one 360 degree rotation. Count how many revolutions the drive tire turns. Three and half rotations= 3.50 gears. A little more than three rotations=3.08 gears. Easy as pie....
Eh, thing is, I was in my powerband and still losing power. That's why I'm upset. I was in second gear going 35 mph. My truck is geared low. Another 300 would have tore that PT Cruiser to peices. I think mine is just tired.
They're nice machines, I just don't like small cars. I kill myself every time I get out of my girlfriend's cavilier or her parent's cobalts. They're nice.. for midgets.
BTW, I'm not saying they're poor quality or anything. They're just so friggin' hard to get in and out of. I'm getting tired of destorying my knees and head! I'm not even a big guy.. 5'9 on a good day. I can't imagine how a 6 footer would get in or out of a small car!!!!
